Perth's trees
Trusted tree care across Dianella
Dianella takes its name from the native flax lily, and it's grown into one of Perth's largest suburbs, laid out on generous mid-century blocks that gave families room to plant. Seventy years on, those gardens have matured into tall jacarandas, gums, figs and Cape lilacs, and around Dianella Regional Open Space the canopy is thick enough to cool a summer afternoon.
Perth Arbor Services has looked after trees like these across Dianella and the wider City of Stirling since 2011. Our degree-qualified arborists handle removal, pruning, lopping and land clearance, with one clear written quote agreed before any work begins.

One degree-qualified team for every job, from a single overgrown backyard tree to a full site clearance.
Tree Lopping
When a canopy needs serious reducing for clearance or safety, how it's cut matters. Crude lopping can leave a Dianella tree weak, disease-prone and pushing out unstable regrowth, when careful crown reduction reaches the same result without the harm.
Learn more →Tree Removal
Decades of growth on Dianella's big blocks means many gardens now hold trees far larger than expected. When a gum, fig or pine outgrows its space or its roots start lifting paths, we remove it safely at any size and clear the site properly.
Learn more →Tree Pruning
Pruning to Australian Standard AS4373 that keeps a mature tree strong, opens it up to light and airflow and clears branches from roofs, powerlines and the neighbour's fence — cuts that help the tree hold its shape for years, not just a season.
Learn more →Tree Risk Assessment
The tall, older trees that give Dianella its shade also carry risk once limbs weaken or decay sets in out of sight. Our written assessments document faults, disease and hazard potential — a clear record of due diligence and a plan for what to do next.
Learn more →Land Clearance
As Dianella's older quarter-acre lots are subdivided and rebuilt, sites often need clearing of established trees and undergrowth first. We handle full lot clearance efficiently and in line with City of Stirling requirements, flagging any protected or registered trees first.
Learn more →Stump Grinding
Once a tree is down, we grind the stump well below ground so it won't regrow or get in the way of paving, lawn or new landscaping on Dianella's roomy blocks — grindings cleared away before we leave.

Tree work in Dianella isn't always as simple as booking someone in. Before you touch a tree on or near your property, it helps to know where the City of Stirling's responsibility ends and yours begins. Most of Dianella sits within the City of Stirling, while a small eastern strip near Morley and Noranda falls under the City of Bayswater, so it's worth confirming which authority applies to your address.
The City of Stirling manages all street and verge trees, and residents, builders and contractors are not permitted to prune, remove or otherwise interfere with them. The City treats unauthorised pruning, damage, poisoning or removal of a street tree as vandalism, and penalties or prosecution may apply under the City of Stirling Thoroughfares and Public Places Local Law 2009. If a verge tree needs attention, you lodge a maintenance request and the City carries out the work.
For trees on private property you're generally responsible for management, but there are exceptions worth checking. Under Local Planning Policy 6.17, the City runs a voluntary Significant Tree Register: an owner can nominate a mature tree, and if it meets the criteria an arborist report is prepared and a Tree Assessment Panel decides the listing. Development conditions, heritage listings or a registered tree can all mean approval is needed before work goes ahead.
Perth Arbor Services will tell you what needs council approval before we quote, not after. If an application is required, we can walk you through it so your project keeps moving.

What Dianella clients say
Dianella tree service questions, answered
Can I prune or remove the verge tree outside my Dianella property?
No. The City of Stirling manages all street and verge trees, and residents, builders and contractors can't prune, remove or interfere with them. The City treats unauthorised pruning, damage, poisoning or removal as vandalism, with penalties or prosecution under the City of Stirling Thoroughfares and Public Places Local Law 2009. If a verge tree needs attention, you lodge a maintenance request and the City carries out the work.
Is Dianella in the City of Stirling or the City of Bayswater?
Most of Dianella sits within the City of Stirling, but a small eastern strip near Morley and Noranda falls under the City of Bayswater. Because the rules and request processes differ slightly between the two, it's worth confirming which authority applies to your address — call us and we'll check it for you before any work.
Do I need council approval to remove a tree on my own property in Dianella?
Usually not, as trees on private property are generally yours to manage. The exceptions are where a tree is listed on the City's voluntary Significant Tree Register (Local Planning Policy 6.17), your property is heritage-listed, or a development condition applies, in which case approval may be needed. Perth Arbor Services checks and advises on all of this before we quote, not after.
What is the difference between tree lopping and tree pruning?
Crude lopping can leave a tree weak, disease-prone and pushing out unstable regrowth, while careful crown reduction pruning reaches the same result without the harm. Our arborists work to Australian Standard AS4373 so every cut benefits the tree's structure, and we tell you honestly which approach your tree needs.
Is Dianella affected by the polyphagous shot-hole borer (PSHB)?
Yes. Dianella sits within Perth's metropolitan Quarantine Area for the polyphagous shot-hole borer, an invasive beetle that bores into a wide range of tree species. If you have susceptible trees on your property, early assessment is recommended, and our arborists can inspect and manage the risk accordingly.
How quickly can you attend a storm-damaged or dangerous tree?
We work seven days a week and offer emergency response for storm-damaged or failing trees that can't wait. Call us on (08) 9227 0010 and we'll get a qualified arborist out to you as quickly as possible.
