Trusted tree care across Wembley

Set between the black swans of Lake Monger and the shops and cafes of Cambridge Street, Wembley is one of the inner-west's leafiest suburbs — a grid of established interwar and character homes shaded by mature garden canopy on generous, tightly held blocks. That leafy character is central to the suburb's appeal, and keeping it healthy rewards a properly qualified arborist.

Perth Arbor Services has looked after Wembley and the wider Town of Cambridge since 2011 — local homeowners, schools, strata groups and businesses alike. Every job starts with one clear written quote agreed before any work begins.

What we do

Tree services we offer in Wembley

One degree-qualified team for every job, from a single backyard gum to a full land clearance.

Tree Lopping

When a canopy genuinely needs reducing for safety or clearance, we weigh the right method honestly. There's a real difference between lopping that harms a tree's long-term health and correct reduction that achieves the same practical outcome. We'll always tell you which one your tree actually needs.

Tree Removal

Wembley's generous blocks and decades-old plantings mean many gardens hold large tuarts, gums and pines whose roots reach towards footings, retaining walls and paving. We remove trees of every size safely on tight suburban sites, working cleanly around fences and neighbours, with full clean-up included as standard.

Learn more →

Tree Pruning

Regular pruning keeps mature canopies balanced and clear of powerlines, rooflines and boundaries on Wembley's closely spaced blocks. We prune to Australian Standard AS4373, working with the tree's structure so the result lasts rather than simply tidying it for a season.

Learn more →

Tree Risk Assessment

Established trees give Wembley its shade and its value, but ageing limbs bring real liability when left unchecked. Our written assessments document structural faults, disease and hazard potential, giving homeowners, schools and strata managers a clear record of due diligence.

Learn more →

Land Clearance

For renovations, knock-down rebuilds and new builds across the Town of Cambridge, we provide efficient lot clearance carried out in line with the council's tree and development requirements — so protected trees are identified before anything comes down.

Stump Grinding

Once a tree is down, we grind the stump well below ground so it won't regrow or get in the way of paving, lawn or a new build on Wembley's established blocks — grindings cleared away before we leave.

Town of Cambridge tree rules: what you need to know

Tree work in Wembley isn't always as simple as it looks. Before you touch any tree on or near your property, it helps to know where the Town of Cambridge's responsibility ends and yours begins.

The Town of Cambridge manages the street and verge trees across the suburb — more than 27,000 council-owned trees in all. Residents aren't permitted to plant, prune or remove a verge tree, or attach anything to it. You can lodge a request for the Town to prune a street tree back to the property line (generally carried out in May), and the Town itself will only remove a street tree as a last resort, after a risk assessment, if it's dead, dangerous or structurally unsound.

Trees on private property are usually yours to manage, but the Town has moved to protect its canopy here too. Under its Tree Retention Policy, removing a large, mature tree (broadly one over about 8 metres) can require development approval where it's tied to a development, and tree-protection bonds may apply during building work. Heritage listings and conservation streets under the Town Planning Scheme can add further requirements. The Town's Street Tree Master Plan and winter planting program — hundreds of trees added each year, partly in response to the polyphagous shot-hole borer — show how seriously canopy is taken here.

Perth Arbor Services will tell you what needs council approval before we quote, not after. If an application is required, we can guide you through it so the process doesn't hold up your project.

Can highly recommend Perth Arbor Services. The guys were very friendly, professional and did a magnificent job on our very tall palm trees and the trimming of the other tree was 1st Class. A special shout out to Rowan who came out for an onsite quote. Highly experienced in his knowledge and we will definitely be calling upon Perth Arbor Services in the future! Well done ๐Ÿ‘

So pleased with the quality service we recieved from Rowan and his team. The council asked us for an arborist report for a Tree Growth Zone smaller than their mandated dimensions. Contacted Rowan and he helped us with the letter straight away. The fee was also very resoanable (fraction of the other quote I had). Highly recommended.

Saw one of your vehicles rego ending in 388 driving recklessly in traffic and driving in the emergency lane. Not great advertising when you have the company logo on the vehicle...

The guys (and gal) from Perth Arbor Services were excellent. Chris came to our property to view two large trees and provide a quote. I was immediately impressed at the knowledge and advice he provided. The team turned up on the agreed day and time and were thoroughly professional throughout the process. After, they did a great job of tidying up - very pleased and have no problem providing a five star rating for their service

Thank you so much to the team at Perth Arbor Services. What a fantastic job. Polite, efficient and concerned to get the right balance for me the client, when it came to the pruning of some of our existing trees. The result was exactly what I wanted and the clean up afterwards...perfect! I would highly recommend them.

I required quite a lot of work to be undertaken in my back garden, in order to correct a couple of small issues and to tidy it up, as I intend to sell soon. I was visited by Rowan who was very good in explaining how the garden had got to its current state and what was needed to get it to the state that I wanted. A date was agreed with Michael and Shamus and his group turned up exactly at the agreed time. They worked exceptionally hard and undertook the work that created the garden that I wanted. I was impressed that Rowan and Shamus had obviously discussed what was required and how to undertake it. I was soooo impressed that I wanted to give 10 stars, but the upper limit was only 5! If anyone that I know needs this sort of assistance then I will be passing Perth Arbor Services contact details to them.

Wembley tree service questions, answered

Can I prune or remove the verge tree outside my Wembley property?

No. The Town of Cambridge manages all street and verge trees, and residents aren't permitted to plant, prune or remove them, or attach anything to them. You can lodge a request for the Town to prune a street tree back to the property line (generally done in May), and the Town will only remove a street tree as a last resort after a risk assessment. Call us and we'll point you the right way.

Do I need council approval to remove a tree on my own property in Wembley?

Often you can manage smaller trees yourself, but the Town of Cambridge has moved to protect its canopy. Under its Tree Retention Policy, removing a large, mature tree (broadly one over about 8 metres) can require development approval where it's tied to a development, and heritage listings or conservation-street rules under the Town Planning Scheme can add further requirements. Perth Arbor Services checks and advises before we quote, not after.

What is the difference between tree lopping and tree pruning?

Lopping (heavy topping) can harm a tree's long-term health and trigger weak, hazardous regrowth, while correct reduction pruning reaches the same practical outcome without the damage. Our arborists work to Australian Standard AS4373 and always tell you which approach your tree actually needs.

Can you work on established interwar and character blocks?

Yes — it's much of what we do across Wembley. We remove and prune large tuarts, gums and pines on tight suburban lots, working carefully around footings, retaining walls, fences and neighbouring gardens, and we clear all debris before we leave.

Is Wembley affected by the polyphagous shot-hole borer (PSHB)?

Yes. Wembley sits within Perth's metropolitan Quarantine Area for the polyphagous shot-hole borer, an invasive beetle that bores into a wide range of tree species — one the Town of Cambridge is actively replanting against. If you have susceptible trees on your block, early assessment is recommended, and our arborists can inspect and manage the risk accordingly.

How quickly can you attend a storm-damaged or dangerous tree?

We work seven days a week and offer emergency response for storm-damaged or failing trees that can't wait. Call us on (08) 9227 0010 and we'll get a qualified arborist out to you as quickly as possible.
